Maintenance at Warwick

Service at Warwick will be unstable from midday tomorrow (1200 25th October 2016) for approximately 24h while we do some emergency maintenance.

We will also have to shut down some instances - owners of these will be contacted by email shortly.

Hi,

I have been trying to use the service and since yesterday I have had couple of issues:

  1. I would like use openstack CLI to access my cloud. I have got the RC file (Access and Security > API access) and I sourced it. But when I run any of openstack softwares I get the following error:

Discovering versions from the identity service failed when creating the password plugin. Attempting to determine version from URL.
ERROR (ConnectFailure): Unable to establish connection to https://keystone.warwick.climb.ac.uk/v2.0/tokens: (‘Connection aborted.’, ConnectionResetError(54, 'Connection reset by peer’))

For some reason I cannot establish the connection.

  1. On a similar issue I cannot launch any instances or delete couple of my instances. When I do that I get the following error.

Error: Failed to perform requested operation on instance “compute-1”, the instance has an error status: Please try again later [Error: Build of instance b434d94c-68cf-487a-af73-010b7ce002db aborted: Failure prepping block device.].

Pleas let me know if these issues related to what you have announced? And I should wait for the maintenance to fix it.

I will look into this for you, but please wait for the end of the maintenance.

Please keep an eye on the status page at https://bryn.climb.ac.uk/status - if you are trying to launch instances at Warwick, you can see that there is no remaining capacity to do so.

I tried to use Birmingham and I can create VMs, as you pointed out the issue of creating the instance caused by the resource capacity.

I also tried to connect to Birmingham openstack using openstack CLI and I am getting similar error as as issue 1:

ERROR (ConnectFailure): Unable to establish connection to http://climb-bham-keystone.climb.cluster:5000/v2.0/tokens: HTTPConnectionPool(host=‘climb-bham-keystone.climb.cluster’, port=5000): Max retries exceeded with url: /v2.0/tokens (Caused by NewConnectionError(’<requests.packages.urllib3.connection.HTTPConnection object at 0x103dad3c8>: Failed to establish a new connection: [Errno 8] nodename nor servname provided, or not known’,))
