The three-month licence is related to the group, the two-week lease is specific for each individual VM in that group.
Only the group admin (the primary user) can renew the three-month licence.
Primary users can assign each VM in their group to one secondary user in their team. The assigned user will be responsible for renewing the lease on the VM(s) under their responsibility every two weeks.
CLIMB-BIG-DATA is moving towards self-sustainability, so we ask users who are writing grants to budget for the use of CLIMB-BIG-DATA (https://www.climb.ac.uk/user-pays-model/): paying users will have longer licence and lease. For now, non-paying groups will have to renew the lease on their VMs every two weeks by clicking a button. This encourages users to shelve or terminate the VMs they no longer use.
