Problems with tab-autocomplete and input/output error

Hi all,

I recently have a problem in CLIMB. When I try to use tab-autocomplete, it hits back with “cannot create temp file for here-document: Read-only file system”. I checked the hard drive usage and everything seems fine.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
udev 32G 12K 32G 1% /dev
tmpfs 6.3G 928K 6.3G 1% /run
/dev/vda1 119G 80G 34G 71% /
none 4.0K 0 4.0K 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
none 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock
none 32G 0 32G 0% /run/shm
none 100M 4.0K 100M 1% /run/user
cm_processes 32G 0 32G 0% /run/cloudera-scm-agent/process

Besides, I also cannot use the du -sh command and it prints “-bash: /usr/bin/du: Input/output error”. I also have similar problems with other commands such as reboot.

I would be grateful if anyone could point me to the solutions for these problems.

Please use https://bryn.climb.ac.uk to reboot your instance and let me know if this doesn’t solve the problem.

Please give me ip address of your VM. If it’s a Warwick instance, I’m aware of this problem and I’m currently working on it.

Thanks Matt and Maciek for your support. I rebooted the instance and everything is back to normal now.
